Ahadi helps you memorize Scripture, alone or with a circle. This page explains what the app keeps about you, why, who can see it, and how to have it removed. We collect only what the app needs to work, we do not sell it, and we do not show ads.
What we keep
- Your account: name, email address and password. The password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- Your profile, if you fill it in: a short bio, a photo, and where you live: county, sub-county, ward or town, and any exact place you type. All of these are optional.
- Your settings: time zone, language, theme, preferred Bible version and reminder choices.
- Your memorizing: the promises (verses) you save, your practice and review history, quiz progress and favorites, so they follow you between phones.
- Circles and churches: the circles you join, your role in them, Strengthen reactions you send and receive, Promise Challenges you take part in, and churches you add or help run, with the church contact details you give.
- Devices: one record per signed-in device, with when it was last used, so you can see and sign out your devices. If notifications are switched on, a device token for sending them.
- Server logs: our server records requests, including IP addresses, to keep the service secure and fix faults. Logs are deleted after 14 days.
Who can see it
- Only you see your profile location, bio, settings and personal practice history.
- Your circle sees your name and role. Group totals are shown to everyone in the circle. Your own progress is shown only if you choose to share it in that circle, or if you join a Promise Challenge that has a Journey Board, which the app tells you before you join.
- Circle leaders also see join requests and who recited in class. Names of people added without the app, often children, are shown to leaders only.
- Church admins see totals for the circles listed under their church. A figure is hidden when fewer than three people are behind it, so it cannot point at one person.
- The Ahadi team can see account details to run the service, verify churches and handle reports. Their actions in the admin panel are recorded.
Services we use
- Our web host, which stores the database and runs the server.
- Resend, to send account emails such as verification and password resets.
- Bible text providers, which receive only the passage being looked up, never who asked.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging, from Google, once push notifications are switched on, to deliver them to your phone. It receives the device token and the notification text.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account, it is removed straight away. Copies can remain for a limited time in server logs and in our host's backups until those are replaced in the normal course. Circles you lead pass to another member, so the group can carry on.
Your choices and rights
Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can object to how it is used. You can change most of it yourself in the app.
- Delete your account in the app under Profile, or on the web at https://ahadizake.co.ke/delete-account.
- Turn off notifications in the app's settings at any time.
- Leave a circle, or stop sharing your progress in it, at any time.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (odpc.go.ke).
Children
Children usually take part through a circle leader, who may add a child's first name to the circle without the child having an account. Those names are visible to the circle's leaders only. A parent can ask the leader to remove a name at any time.
